7 Months Old Today

7 months old today and smiley as can be! Mommy and Hudson spent the day at Riley Children's hospital for our monthly renal appointment. He also had his follow up appointment from his g-tube surgery back in April.

The g-tube site looks great. We go back in 2 months to get his button changed out. His renal appointment went great too. Hudson weighed in at 14 lbs 2 oz. and is 61cm long (~25 inches). He grows quite slow but overall they are very happy with his growth. Hudson's creatinine number (which tells us his kidney function) still hasn't budged and is staying steady these last few months at 3.2. A healthy kidney function should have a creatinine in the range of 0.20-0.60.  :( Our biggest hopes and prayers are for his kidneys to recover and heal to some day come off of dialysis. If God has other plans then to Him be all the glory and once he is 18 lbs we get referred to the transplant team. Hudson has had low phosphorous for awhile now simply because breastmilk is low in it. However, blood work today showed it was much too low. So we will be starting a new supplement to help raise that phosphorous back up. Good news is his hemoglobin is still in range so we still get to stay off of those epogen shots. He also graduated to the next size up blood pressure cuff.
In 2 weeks we have first steps coming out to evaluate Hudson again to see if he qualifies for OT/PT. He is working really hard at tummy time and is SO close to rolling over from back to stomach. We will see what they say as he needs a little help putting weight on his legs and bringing those toes up to his mouth.
Hudson is not a fan of eating baby food. Any time he sees the spoon coming he turns his head away. If he gets any food on his tongue he usually vomits. This is very common in kidney kids. Hudson does take a pacifier and brings toys to his mouth so he only seems to have oral aversion to food. He seems to do okay if he holds a piece of food and brings it to his mouth for a lick. The doctors are completely okay with that as he is trying. So he will continue to get all of his nutrition from breastmilk with a little bit of formula added for those extra calories.
Hooray for 7 months old! We are looking forward to all the new things he will learn this next month!  <3
