This look sums up our morning. Hudson had a serious blow out nicely contained in his sleep sack this morning when he woke up. Unfortunately, his catheter was covered in poop too. So we made a trip to Riley Hospital ( THANK YOU, NURSE SUZI!!!) to get a new catheter put on that would no longer stink or put him at risk for infection. Now to relaxing the rest of this beautiful Sunday.....

This week we've been having Hudson practice wearing his own feeding pump during feeds. Each feeding he wears it as long as he is able which is anywhere from 10-15 mins. He really hates it though and does best if we keep him distracted.

Little Mister is 18 months old today! He is seriously happy all the time except when one of his sisters tries to hug and kiss him. He loves reading and looking at books, being held by mama, wrestling with dad, being outside, knocking over towers, and playing in the kitchen cabinets.

Sunny 70 degree weather makes for a perfect day to be out doors! Hudson was able to watch his big sister play soccer today and attend the Riley NICU Reunion! We had such a fun day together as a family! We aren't all together very often since Bryan works weekends. So today was much needed and the weather couldn't be more perfect!

Hudson's transplant evaluation has officially been scheduled!
September 27-29th we will be spending 3 days at Cincinnati Children's Hospital with roughly 14 appointments in all. Hudson must go through a full evaluation to see if he is a candidate for transplant, is healthy enough to have the procedure, and to see if a transplant will truly be the best thing for him.

We got a call today from Cincinnati Children's Hospital! Oh my gosh this is crazy! It looks like things are moving forward and Hudson will soon be starting all that is needed for transplant workup.

It's always fun seeing a friendly face and fellow kidney mama at our monthly renal appointment! And it makes it even more fun when us mommas show up with our boys in the same outfits and us in pink shirts! :O I know I was greatly encouraged today. This sweet mama is finishing up her last procedures and will be donating her kidney to her son hopefully this upcoming fall. <3 Feel free to keep both of them in your prayers! xoxo

We bought a baby gate!!! That's right, #TeamHudson, a certain little boy in our home has learned to climb the stairs! It is SO exciting to see him meet another milestone. It's pretty funny, though, Hudson will only climb three stairs, look up and see all the rest, and whine and try to get back down. lol

I'm thankful that when my son, Hudson, was born in March 2016, my wife and I weren't forced to place him in hospice care even though that was one of the "options" and recommendations of the hospital that cared for Hudson in Indiana. I'm thankful I live in a country that allows parents to dictate the healthcare of their children.

Happy Independence Day! Hudson has spent the morning crawling around and then decided to take a 2 1/2 hour nap! Woot Woot! But there's no staying up late for fireworks tonight as he has to be connected and on dialysis by 10pm. But that's okay he'll be asleep by 8:30 anyways. Hope you all are enjoying your day!

Hudson received a Tubie Friend in the mail! It's a friend that has all the same tubes as him: a PD catheter and a g-tube! Such a sweet organization! I love that Hudson can touch the tube and button on his puppy because whenever he touches his own he tries to pull with all his might. :O Thank you Tubie Friends for letting kids explore tubes on a friend and being able to have a buddy around that's just like them.

Baxter Delivery Day! We got our monthly shipment. :O Hudson recently went from one bag to two bags a night so our amount of boxes delivered has doubled! This corner of his room is just dialysate bags. All his other supplies are stuffed in his closet. He doesn't seem to mind it at all!

Oh my goodness! TinySuperheroes is the sweetest organization that makes capes for extraordinary children battling a critical disease. Just look at my superhero and how happy he is to have a super cool cape?! I can only imagine other kids joy as well! This organization is made possible by donations and people sponsoring capes for children that are waiting to own one. We are beyond blessed that someone chose to sponsor a cape for Hudson.

Hudson had his monthly renal appointment today. We got there bright and early at 8am for a liver ultrasound. It was a routine ultrasound just to check for any growths that might/could occur on the liver. Thankfully everything looked great! They'll do another liver ultrasound when things start moving as we near transplant. Then off to labs.....our favorite phlebotomist was able to get labs on only one poke. Hooray!

Hudson had a great night last night and has been sleeping a lot today. He is holding his feeds down and is staying comfortable with tylenol every 4 hours. I'm so glad he is resting well today. The plan is for him to do 12 hours of dialysis tonight at a low fill volume (180 ml). If all goes smooth on dialysis we can be discharged tomorrow. We will have to work our way back up to 290mL fill volumes at 9 hours of dialysis over the next week.

Hudson is pretty sleepy today after such a rough night last night. Between IV fluids and zofran he is looking and feeling so much better. Thank you so much for praying for our sweet boy. This kidney disease journey can be tiring some days, and we love knowing we can not only trust in the Lord, but lean on your prayers during those trials. The plan is to make sure he can hold his feeds down during the day today, then send us home this evening. All his labs have been in range so he actually got last night off of dialysis. He is now off IV fluids. Please continue to pray he will hold his feeds down so we can be back home tonight.

Happy Birthday, Hudson Ryle! We had SO much fun celebrating you this weekend! You bring us so much joy, so many smiles, laughs, and giggles. You are the bravest and strongest little boy I know and yet still continue to always smile each and every day. Your life verse says "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me, your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever". (Psalm 138:8) We know without adoubt, that the Lord has and will continue to fulfill his purposes for you whatever they may be. We are beyond blessed to be able to celebrate this milestone with you today. You have come so far and we are so proud of you. Happy Birthday to our sweet sweet boy!

Of course Hudson likes to keep us on our toes 5 days before his birthday, 3 days before his party and 1-2 days before family comes into town to visit. Just our luck that his catheter alarms every.single. drain last night. So we make a phone call to good old dialysis to let them know something seems off. They call us in for an x-ray and labs and of course it would be our luck that his catheter is stuck behind his spleen and not in his pelvic area where it's supposed to be. That's right folks, we are getting admitted and scheduled as an add on for surgery tonight.
