Hudson's Kidney Friend (August 2017 Update)

It's always fun seeing a friendly face and fellow kidney mama at our monthly renal appointment! And it makes it even more fun when us mommas show up with our boys in the same outfits and us in pink shirts!   I know I was greatly encouraged today. This sweet mama is finishing up her last procedures and will be donating her kidney to her son hopefully this upcoming fall.   Feel free to keep both of them in your prayers! xoxo

Hudson had a great appointment today! All his labs looked great (it did take two pokes to get all the blood needed 😥) so no medicine changes were made. He weighed in at 20 lbs 8 ounces! So exciting! Looks like mister is growing out now instead of up as he didn't grow any taller this past month. After much talk with his dietician, we both felt it was time to start introducing food into his diet. Hudson has been on a breastmilk/formula mixture since probably 2 months old. We are going to slowly introduce a blended diet into his formula/breastmilk mixture and see how he does. It is an organic plant based blended diet specifically for tube feedings. With as awesome as he's been doing at holding his food down lately I'm confident he'll do well on it. So we have some samples to try this weekend to see how he likes it.
In other news, we are excited to share with you all that we have officially placed our referral for transplant at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital! After much prayer and talks with his team, we feel he is a better candidate for transplant at Cincinnati Children's instead of at Riley. We should hopefully hear from the transplant team within the next few weeks to start this process.   Of course we are filled with so many emotions right now and have so many questions rolling in our heads but we simply have to wait until we hear more. Until then, we covet your prayers as we wait in anticipation.
As always, since it appears transplant is coming much sooner than we thought we would love for you to consider donating to his COTA account to help offset transplant related expenses: Any little bit helps!
